STOP Anna Bligh & Cape Alumina mining the Steve Irwin Wildlife Reserve

12,300 Hectares, strip mined for 50,000,000 tonnes of bauxite from a 135,000 Hectare pristine Cape York, Australia wilderness environment.

We won the first round! The Wenlock has been declared a 'wild' river under the Queensland Wild Rivers Act 2005 & Cape Alumina P/L have scrapped their Pisolite Hills project (the bauxite strip mine planned for the Wenlock basin).

But the fight continues, should Tony Abbott's Coalition Government be elected into office come 21 August 2010 he plans to tear wild rivers laws to shreds and subject the unique and irreplaceable wildlife habitats of Far North Queensland to environmental disaster at the hands of greedy, international mining companies.

Tony Abbott can not be trusted with the Australian environment.

We would like to thank the QLD Government, Premier Anna Bligh & Minister Stephen Robertson for doing the right thing and declaring the Wenlock 'WILD'.
