9 April 2010 - E-mail received from the Queensland Premier's Office, from Mr Nick Williams, Senior Policy Advisor. This e-mail is in response to an inquiry submitted by me concerning the outstanding status of the Wenlock River under the Wild Rivers Act 2005, and the Queensland Government's position with regards to Cape Alumina's current mining proposal in the Wenlock River Basin. 1 April 2010 - Phone call received today from the Premier's office from 'David'. In essence, Cape Alumina have NOT yet submitted their EIS. The Govt. is currently deciding if the Wenlock will be declared a wild river under the Wild Rivers Act. To be fair, David was quite interested in my views on the Wild Rivers Act, the Wenlock River & its ecology and was quite happy to take time out to discuss these issues with me.
